Labrador Retriever – Dog Photography

The afternoon I spent with Jake and his pet parents Renee and Julie was filled with such fun! Jake is such a well-behaved dog – especially for being a 3-year-old Lab. He was SO excited when I entered their home and I absolutely love that! I feel so fortunate to get to know so many different dogs on a regular basis (and their people too). My life is greatly enriched because of them. Enjoy a few of my favorites from their session! You can see more of the dog family here.

Saturday is National Pit Bull Awareness Day! I love Bully smiles!  :) Bless the Bully’s is a great organization striving to restore the image and reputation of these great dogs. The National Pit Bull Awareness campaign is a nationwide effort to bring positive awareness and attention to the American Pit Bull Terrier and their responsible owners.

In celebration of this wonderful breed, East C.A.N is having a Free Pit Bull Neutering day sponsored by our friends at Earth Dog. The event will take place at the open field next to Bongo Java in East Nashville. Appointments are required and can be arranged by calling Jana Mandes at 615.579.7301

Let the Halloween celebrations begin! Bring your costumed dog to See Spot Eat on Saturday from 11a-5p for their 3rd Annual Howl-o-ween Party. Festivities will include free yummy treats, goodie bags, bobbing for Hot Dogs, a mini agility course, and of course, a costume contest!

Nashville Paw Magazine is having another rooftop event at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. These are SO fun and the views are awesome! This is the 2nd Annual Barktoberfest and it is going to be great. I’ll fill you in on more details next Wednesday but be sure to mark your calendar and get your costumes ready for you and your pup!

Cassie is the studio manager for Adrian Hitt Photography. She keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes and frequents the blog often with her tips on what’s going on in the dog world. In addition to her work here, Cassie freelances in the local music scene, volunteers with animal rescues and enjoys being outside with her pups. She lives in Nashville and is the proud parent of Jeffery, Ittey and Banjo – two rescue dogs and one awesome orange cat!

Pets with Hayfever?

Many of us suffer from the annoying effects of pollens, dust, and molds this time of year. We have respiratory symptoms such as runny noses, watery eyes, etc. Our pets suffer from the same pollens, dust, and molds but their symptoms manifest themselves as skin problems. The parts of their body most commonly affected are the face, the area at the base of the tail, the skin between the toes (foot licking), and the area around the genitals. Flea allergies have very similar clinical signs. Allergies can make your pet very uncomfortable and they can lead to secondary bacterial or yeast infections in the skin. If your pet is scratching and chewing excessively, losing hair, and probably keeping you awake at night, then it’s time to visit your pet’s doctor. We most likely can give you both some relief!

Dr. Grif Haber is a fifth generation Nashvillian. Dashing he parents’ hopes that he would become a “real doctor,” he earned his veterinary degree at Purdue University in 1972 and established Murphy Road Animal Hospital P.C. in 1977. With a heart for rescue, he founded Love at First Sight! Puppy and Kitten Adoption Center in 1995 that has since placed thousands of abandoned puppies and kittens into loving homes.

Jake the Labrador – Pet Photographer

Happy Friday! This is a favorite from a recent session with Jake the Labrador Retriever. What a seriously fun afternoon I had with him and his pet parents, Renee and Julie. I wish we had a behind-the-scenes video for this shot. From looking at it, you’d never know what it took to get it. Not to mention the ball, kids and squirrel that were all right behind me vying for Jake’s attention! 😉  He still did so wonderful. More from this dog session soon!
