Thanks, Ladies! I’m pretty crazy about him :)

Is your dog scared of storms?

Spring. Ahhhhh. Just saying the word ‘spring’ makes me happy! The arrival of spring means warm breezes, sunshine, blooming plant life, and thunderstorms. I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer (no offense to you wonderful Debbies out there!) I really do love a good afternoon thundershower, but let me tell you who doesn’t – my sweet hound, Jeffery. He is 70lbs of mess when thunder is in the vicinity. Now, I haven’t tried this yet, but I have read so much about this and there are so many great reviews that I just had to share.

I am talking about the Thundershirt. Thundershirt’s patent-pending design is a pressure wrap that applies a gentle, constant pressure on a dog’s torso. Thundershirts are actually used for a variety of anxiety-derived issues in dogs with great success including travel anxiety, fear of storms, crate training, separation anxiety, problem barking, and even leash pulling. The constant, gentle pressure has a dramatic calming effect on the nervous system and works for most dogs if they are anxious, fearful or over-excited. Thundershirts have been featured in some of our favorite magazines such as The Bark, Whole Dog Journal, Modern Dog, Fido Friendly, and the list goes on! (I know that See Spot Eat in Berry Hill carries them.) Of course, I love this company even more because of their Thundershirt Gives Back programs for rescue groups and Operation Baghdad Pups.

I plan on getting Jeffery’s Thundershirt ASAP. Hopefully Jeffery will finally be able to find the peace and beauty in an afternoon thundershower this year! Have you tried this product yet? Share your experience with us!

We love Thundershirts! We use them at our rescue adoption days for dogs who get nervous in public. Seems to help, and they look awfully cute in them!

Is your dog magazine cover worthy? ABSOLUTELY!

Okay, so my dogs are definitely not the face of high class, but they are definitely magazine cover worthy. Here is their big chance!

Nashville Lifestyles’ 3rd Annual Cover Dog Search
Presented by The Nutro Company

Plan ahead for a fun Saturday, March 19th, 12-2pm at the gorgeous Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Museum of Art. Nashville Lifestyles Magazine is calling all dogs, BIG and small, to compete for the chance to be featured on the cover of their May issue. Rumor has it that a celebrity panel will judge the contest while pets and their humans enjoy live music and other festivities. We will have our annual booth at this great event so please stop by to say hello! Advanced entry is $20 per pet, $25 per pet on the day of the event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Nashville Humane Association and Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. It is suggested to complete this registration form prior to the event and bring it with you. This is a rain or shine event.

Rest in Peace, dear Folley

If you have a dog, you will most likely outlive it; to get a dog is to open yourself to profound joy and, prospectively, to equally profound sadness.

MARJORIE GARBER

These are the blogs that are the most difficult to write. So much of the time I get to celebrate the incredibly mysterious bonds that are formed with our dogs. I am endlessly captivated by the discernment and unyielding loyalty pups give. You just always hope that something so wonderful won’t end. Life is hard enough on its own, right? I’ve read that dogs are simply on lease to us. And we all know that a short life is a dogs only fault. This weekend, sweet Folley was put to peace. She was an affectionate, rambunctious, nine-year-old Chocolate Lab. She lived down the street from us and even though I know that she is no longer in pain, goodbyes are never easy. Folley, may there be ample lakes for you to jump in and open pastures to run. We will smile as we tell stories of all of your craziness. You are greatly missed.

Awhhhh what a precious pup. It is SO HARD to let go of pets because they’re part of the family! Love this image… she looks so happy. :)

Lifestyle Pet Photography

You remember this adorable dog family? Well, it’s time to share more from their session! I absolutely love what I do, and this pet session was extra fun for me. Phil and Mindy are standout Nashville wedding photographers and friends of ours. (You should seriously check out their work!) Meg is their precious 9-year-old Border Collie who is a sweetheart. I decided to shoot all film with them and we’re all very pleased with how the photographs turned out! It was a gorgeous day and looking at these only makes me more anxious about spring. Phindy, thanks being such great sports. Enjoy!

The collective favorite…

They love good ole’ Coca-Cola.
