Most dogs can use a little help when it comes to their breath. We know ours can! So we created this treat here at See Spot Eat in order to help sweeten our dogs breath. Herbs like mint and parsley have natural breath freshening properties and the calcium in the egg shells is great for their teeth! AND this treat is wheat free for those pups that may have allergies to wheat.
Preheat oven to 350.
Ingredients:
1 c rye flour
3/4 c oat flour
1/2 – 3/4 c spelt flour (depending on consistency of dough – add more or less)
1/4 c oats
1 tbs dry mint
2 tbs dry parsley
2 eggs
2/3 c beef broth
1/4 c canola oil
1 tsp Egg shells, crushed fine (optional)
Mix together dry ingredients (including egg shell, if used) in a mixing bowl. Mix together eggs, canola, and beef broth in a separate bowl. Add liquid to dry ingredients slowly while mixing constantly. Dough will have a pasty consistency.
Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Flip cookies over and bake an additional 15 minutes. Turn off oven and allow cookies to sit in oven two more hours or overnight.
Store in an airtight container.
Bon appetit!
