Know someone in the Memphis area looking to adopt a dog this pre-Valentines weekend?
We love little stories that help bring attention to animal rescue and adoption! This Saturday, Memphis Animals Services Director, Matt Pepper, plans to sit in a cage wearing a dog costume until all 31 dogs available for adoption have found their forever homes. This quote from the Commercial Appeal in Memphis sheds some light on his purpose, “There are more than 15,000 animals who come through our shelter, and too many lose their lives just for lack of homes,” Pepper said. “I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is and spend a day in the kennel.” Hopefully this humorous stunt will motivate folks to drive on over to the shelter and see if that special cat, dog, kitten, or puppy is there waiting to complete their family.
The Memphis Animal Shelter is at 3456 Tchulahoma Road. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Normal adoption fees are $75, BUT will be reduced to $25 for this event.
